Regular biography
Prof. Dr. Claudius Hammann is a professor at the Technical University of Munich in the Department of Civil Engineering. His research focuses on fire science and engineering, particularly performance-based fire protection, fire risk engineering, and human-machine interfaces. His work examines social resource utilisation in preventive and defensive fire protection, including building components, materials, energy storage, and aerospace applications. Prof. Hammann has 15 years of experience in fire protection and special construction measures. He was appointed Professor of Fire Science and Engineering at TUM in April 2025. His academic career includes a doctorate in risk analysis of complex systems from TUM with distinction, a habilitation in building physics, and a data science program at MIT.
