Regular biography
Lee, Hong Geun is an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at Seoul National University. His research focuses on synthetic organic chemistry, particularly in the development of novel strategies for the synthesis of natural and unnatural small molecules and biopolymers. His work addresses unmet synthetic needs in biomedical research, including target-oriented syntheses and transition metal-based methods for biologically important biopolymers. Lee's research has contributed to solving therapeutic issues such as opioid addiction and antibiotic resistance. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University in 2012 and has held positions at MIT and Bristol-Myers Squibb. His publications include studies on palladium-mediated reactions and other synthetic methodologies.
