Regular biography
Dr Chris James is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at the University of New South Wales, where he teaches and conducts research in aerospace engineering. His work focuses on hypersonic flows, non-equilibrium entry conditions, and advanced measurement techniques for high-speed flows. Dr James has contributed significantly to the development of experimental facilities for simulating planetary entry conditions and has published extensively on topics such as magnetohydrodynamic drag measurements, electron density detection, and thermocouple heat flux measurements. His research has been applied in real-world scenarios, including rapid-response airborne observations of the Hayabusa2 reentry. Dr James is also actively involved in the development of test models for hypervelocity facilities using rapid prototyping techniques.
