Professor Andrew Whittaker

Professor Andrew Whittaker is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Queensland. His research interests include polymer chemistry, physical chemistry, solid-state NMR, NMR microscopy, biomaterials, nanomaterials, molecular imaging agents, and polymers for photolithography. He is affiliated with the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI). His work focuses on characterisation, materials, nanotechnology, optical properties of materials, physical chemistry of materials, polymers, spectroscopy, structural chemistry and spectroscopy, synthesis of materials, and theory and design of materials.

Andrew Whittaker is a researcher at the University of Queensland with expertise in polymer physical chemistry, nanomedicine, lithographic materials, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques. His work explores the surface chemistry of materials using advanced NMR methods, such as 29 Si CP/MAS NMR, and investigates the structural properties of polymers and their applications in drug delivery and biomedical imaging. He has contributed to the development of fluorinated compounds for molecular imaging and therapeutics, as well as the design of bioerodable microparticles for sustained drug release. His research also includes the synthesis of advanced battery materials, such as perfluoropolyether-based electrolytes, and the functionalization of nanoparticles for targeted imaging and therapeutic applications.
