Dr Alan Huang

Dr Alan Huang is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Mathematics and Physics at The University of Queensland. He teaches first and third year statistics courses, including analysis of scientific data. His research interests include statistics, probability, and data science. Dr Huang holds an Honours degree in Science (Advanced Mathematics) from the University of Sydney and a PhD (Statistics) from the University of Chicago, earned on a McCormick Fellowship. Prior to joining The University of Queensland, he lectured at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Technology Sydney. He is currently the Statistics Major Convenor and Mathematics Honours Coordinator.

Alan Huang is a researcher at the University of Queensland with expertise in nonparametric regression, semiparametric regression, empirical likelihood, and generalized linear models. His work focuses on developing statistical methods for modeling complex data structures, including dispersed counts and time-series data. Huang has contributed to the development of Bayesian and mean-parametrized models for Conway-Maxwell-Poisson regression, as well as methods for joint estimation of mean and error distribution in generalized linear models. His research also explores density estimation and nonparametric inferences using maximum likelihood weighted kernels, with applications in environmental and biomedical contexts.
