Regular biography
Mark D. Hickman is a Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. He is also the Director of the Transport and Mobility Research Centre (TMRC) at UNSW. His research focuses on the development and application of advanced analytical methods for transport planning and operations, with a particular emphasis on the integration of data analytics, simulation, and optimization techniques. His work spans a wide range of transport modes and systems, including public transport, freight logistics, and urban mobility. He has made significant contributions to the fields of dynamic traffic assignment, multimodal transport modeling, and the use of big data in transport decision-making. Professor Hickman has published extensively in leading transport and engineering journals and has been involved in numerous research projects funded by government and industry partners.
