Chris Whitewoods

Chris Whitewoods is a Fellow at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the School of Biological Sciences. His research focuses on plant morphogenesis, including leaf air space formation, control of differential growth, cell division and expansion, and intercellular adhesion. He aims to understand how plants coordinate their overall leaf shape with intricate internal patterning to produce leaves adapted to their function. His work involves techniques such as live imaging, sector analysis, inducible gene expression, histology, and developmental modelling. Whitewoods' research areas include computational modelling of plant growth, physiology of leaf air spaces, and cell wall mechanics.
