Tim Weil

Tim Weil is a Fellow at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the School of Biological Sciences and the Department of Zoology. As an Associate Professor, he serves as Deputy Head of School for Undergraduate Strategy. His research focuses on early development, egg activation, localised translation, biomolecular condensates, and processing bodies. His work investigates the mechanisms underlying the spatial and temporal coordination of egg and early embryo development, with an emphasis on the role of biomolecular condensates in regulating mRNAs during these stages. His research employs techniques such as live imaging, MS2 tagging of mRNA, in situ hybridisation, antibody staining, and basic biochemistry.
