Regular biography
Thomas Thomson is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at The University of Manchester. His research focuses on nano-engineering and spintronic technologies, with an emphasis on developing novel materials for data storage and spintronic devices. He leads the Nano Engineering and Storage Technologies Research Group and is Chair of the management board of the (Graphene) NOWNANO Centre for Doctoral Training. Thomson's work explores magnetic thin film multilayers, hybrid magnetic films, and the interaction of magnetic properties in materials such as FePt and FeRh. His research contributes to the understanding of magnetism in graphene and 2D materials for spintronic applications.
