Jonathan Shapiro

Jonathan Shapiro is a Reader in the School of Computer Science at The University of Manchester. His research focuses on machine learning, probabilistic modeling, and evolutionary algorithms, with particular interests in reinforcement learning and active learning for optimization. He leads the Machine Learning and Optimization Research Group and serves as Deputy Director of CICADA, an interdisciplinary project involving Computer Science, Control Engineering, and Mathematics. Shapiro has previously been associated with the Santa Fe Institute and was a research theoretical physicist at the University of Manchester and the University of California.
