Dr. Y. Xu is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is also affiliated with the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Dr. Xu's research interests include power systems, energy markets, game theory, and optimization. He has made significant contributions to the fields of electricity market design, energy storage, and demand response. Dr. Xu has published extensively in top-tier journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, and IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control. He has also served on the editorial boards of several journals and has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences. Dr. Xu is a recipient of the IEEE PES Outstanding Paper Award and the IEEE Transactions on Power Systems Best Paper Award. He has been recognized for his outstanding research and teaching, and has received several teaching awards at UCLA. Dr. Xu is a Fellow of the IEEE and a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He is also a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). Dr. Xu has been invited to give talks at various universities and research institutions around the world, including MIT, Stanford, and Harvard. He has also been a visiting professor at several universities, including the University of Cambridge and the University of Tokyo. Dr. Xu is currently serving as the editor-in-chief of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. He is also a member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES) and the IEEE Technical Committee on Smart Grid. Dr. Xu has been involved in several industry projects, including the development of smart grid technologies and the design of energy markets. He has also been a consultant for several energy companies and government agencies. Dr. Xu is currently working on several research projects, including the development of new algorithms for energy storage, the design of new market mechanisms for electricity markets, and the development of new technologies for smart grid systems. Dr. Xu is also interested in the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to power systems and energy markets.
