Dr Ashfaque Alam

Dr Ashfaque Alam is a Lecturer in Engineering at King's College London, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He joined the university in January 2024 as a Lecturer in Semiconductor Education, where he is responsible for the re-development of the MSc Electronic Engineering curricula and the design of open online courses aligned with semiconductor industry needs. His research focuses on electronic devices and energy materials. Prior to joining King’s, he worked at several institutions including the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, and De Montfort University Leicester. He is also the Director of BRI Ltd, a charitable research organisation, and runs a YouTube channel named Instrugram to promote science and technology in the developing world.

Ashfaque E Alam is a Lecturer in Semiconductor education at King's College London, specializing in Thin-film electronics, Low-cost Instrumentation, Solar cells, Semiconductor Physics, and Electronic technologies. His research focuses on advancing photovoltaic materials and devices, particularly in CdTe-based thin-film solar cells, with an emphasis on improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Alam's work includes the development of low-cost visible light spectrophotometers and the investigation of electrodeposited materials for solar cell applications. He also explores perovskite solar cells, addressing challenges such as short lifetime and hysteresis behavior. His research contributes to the optimization of semiconductor materials and the design of novel photovoltaic devices for sustainable energy solutions.
