Eyal Maori

Eyal Maori is a Sir Henry Dale Fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on RNA biology, virology, RNA transfer between organisms, and regulatory RNA. Maori investigates how RNA flows between individuals and its role in social immunity and epigenetic communication between honeybees and other closely interacting organisms. His work employs techniques such as metabolic RNA labelling, RNAseq, and methylome profiling to explore these phenomena.

Eyal Maori, PhD, is a Group Leader at the University of Cambridge, specializing in virology, genomics, RNAi, environmental RNA, and transmissible RNA. His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of RNA-based phenomena in both viral and host systems. Maori's work includes the study of RNA interference (RNAi) as a tool for controlling viral diseases in honey bees and other organisms. He has explored the role of RNA in viral recombination, gene silencing, and the development of RNA-based therapies for plant and animal pathogens. His research also addresses the transmissible RNA pathways in honey bees and the potential of RNA-binding proteins in modulating RNA stability.
