Kathryn Lilley

Kathryn Lilley is a Fellow at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the School of Biological Sciences. Her research focuses on the development and application of technologies for measuring the dynamic proteome in space and time within cells, with a high-throughput approach. Her work encompasses protein and RNA localisation, post-transcriptional and post-translational modifications, gene and protein expression, and technology development. She also engages with techniques such as mass spectrometry imaging, mathematical modelling, and high-performance computing. Lilley leads the Cambridge Centre for Proteomics and is a Theme Lead for Molecules and Cells: The Building Blocks of Life.

Kathryn Lilley is a Professor of Cellular Dynamics with expertise in proteomics, systems biology, and cell biology. Her research focuses on understanding the complexity of the proteome through advanced analytical techniques, including deep proteome coverage and high-throughput methods. She has contributed significantly to the development of computational tools for proteomics data analysis and has explored the functional roles of proteins in cellular processes, such as mitochondrial dysfunction and circadian rhythms. Her work also includes subcellular proteome mapping and the identification of RNA–protein interactions, highlighting the importance of proteomic approaches in elucidating biological mechanisms.
