She has contributed to understanding the Southern Ocean's role in regulating Earth's climate, including the impact of polar ocean freshening on the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) and its potential future decline. Her research also includes the development of models and methods to analyze ocean data, such as the use of Gaussian Mixture Modeling for mapping ocean salinity and the application of optimal transformation methods for diagnosing ocean carbon sinks.
