Pasco Fearon

Pasco Fearon is a Fellow at the University of Cambridge, affiliated with the School of Biological Sciences, Department of Psychology, and the Centre for Family Research. His research interests include psychological development, environmental influences, families, behavioural genetics, and longitudinal studies. His work explores caregiving factors affecting children’s psychological, emotional, cognitive, and psychobiological development. He employs techniques such as behavioural observations, psychological testing, quantitative genetics, and brain imaging. His research also addresses areas for collaboration, including wearable devices, machine learning, and innovative methods for promoting early child development in low-resource contexts.

Richard Pasco Fearon is a researcher at the University of Cambridge focusing on child development, attachment, children's mental health and wellbeing, and behavioural genetics. His work explores the role of insecure and disorganized attachment in the development of children’s externalizing and internalizing behaviors, as well as the intergenerational transmission of attachment patterns. Fearon has also investigated the impact of maternal postnatal depression on offspring depression and the genetic and environmental influences on mother–infant attachment security. His research emphasizes the importance of early caregiving experiences in shaping socioemotional development and mental health outcomes across the lifespan.
