Regular biography
Dr Gabriel Pontes is a Postdoc Research Associate at the Climate Change Research Centre, Australian Centre for Excellence in Antarctic Sciences, University of New South Wales. His research focuses on the oceans' role in the climate system, including the impact of ice sheet melting on global and regional climate, oceanic and atmospheric teleconnections, and the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. He performs simulations with global climate models to understand past and future climate dynamics. His work includes examining factors affecting high latitude Southern Hemisphere climate and the El Niño Southern Oscillation.
