Oscar P. Bruno is a Professor of Applied and Computational Mathematics at the California Institute of Technology, Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. His research focuses on the development of accurate, high-performance numerical PDE solvers capable of modeling realistic scientific and engineering configurations. His work addresses major theoretical and computational difficulties arising from intricate geometries, solution singularities, resonances, nonlinearities, high-frequencies, dispersion, and other challenges. Recently, he has developed Fourier Continuation (FC) and integral-equation techniques that have enabled accurate solutions to previously intractable PDE problems. His research areas include Partial Differential Equations, Numerical Analysis, Computational Science, and Mathematical Physics.
