Sophie Rousseaux

Sophie Rousseaux is a Professor at the University of Toronto, effective July 1, and holds the title of Associate Chair, Graduate Studies within the Department of CHEM. Sophie Rousseaux is a researcher in organic chemistry with a focus on synthetic methodology and organometallics. Her work explores catalytic transformations, particularly in cross-coupling reactions, C–H bond functionalization, and the development of new synthetic strategies. She has contributed to the advancement of palladium- and nickel-catalyzed reactions, including arylative dearomatization, alkane arylation, and the synthesis of complex organic molecules. Her research also includes the study of homoenolates, electrophilic zinc species, and metal-free approaches for carbon–carbon bond formation. Rousseaux's work emphasizes the design of efficient and selective synthetic methods for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and materials.
