J. Rafael Montenegro-Burke is an Assistant Professor at the Donnelly Centre, University of Toronto, specializing in metabolomics, chromatography, and mass spectrometry. His research focuses on developing computational tools and technologies to enhance metabolomics analysis, including the creation of the METLIN database for small molecule identification and retention time prediction. He explores the application of metabolomics in understanding biological processes, such as adipocyte function, cancer metabolism, and metabolic adaptation to calorie restriction. His work also integrates machine learning and cloud-based resources to accelerate data processing and improve the accuracy of metabolite annotation in untargeted and targeted analyses.
