Haissi Cui's research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression, metastasis, and drug resistance. Their work explores the role of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMP)-1 in creating premetastatic niches and its interactions with signaling pathways such as SDF-1/CXCR4 and HIF-1α. Cui also investigates the pro-metastatic effects of miR-210 and the involvement of tetraspanin CD63 in β-catenin stabilization. Additionally, they examine the structural and functional roles of aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases, including their potential as therapeutic targets. Their research also addresses R-loops and R-loop-binding proteins in cancer contexts, contributing to the understanding of ex-translational regulation and drug resistance mechanisms.
