Andrew Beharry's research focuses on the development and application of photoswitchable and fluorescent compounds for biological systems. His work includes the design of azobenzene-based photoswitches that enable controlled molecular responses in vivo, particularly under red light, which minimizes phototoxicity. He also explores the use of fluorescent chemosensors for monitoring DNA repair mechanisms and cancer-related processes. His research integrates photochemistry, molecular biology, and biomedical imaging to create tools for cancer biology and photodynamic therapy. Beharry's publications highlight the synthesis and application of photosensitizers, photoswitchable linkers, and theranostic agents for targeted drug delivery and real-time monitoring of cellular processes.
