William M. Kahan

William M. Kahan is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include Applied Mathematics, Geometry/Topology, Error analysis, Numerical computations, Computers, Convexity, Large matrices, and Trajectory problems. He was appointed in 1969 and retired in 2008. Kahan has supervised several dissertations, including those of Ren-Cang Li, Pingtak Peter Tang, and Jerome Toby Coonen. His work includes publications on error bounds, Givens rotations, and unconventional schemes for ordinary differential equations.
