Ming Gu is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on Applied Mathematics, with particular emphasis on Numerical linear algebra and Scientific computing. Gu's work includes contributions to fast algorithms for structured linear systems, such as Toeplitz and HSS representations, as well as randomized methods for low-rank matrix approximations. He has supervised numerous PhD dissertations in areas such as robust optimization, spectrum-revealing CUR decomposition, and efficient second-order methods for non-convex optimization. His publications appear in leading journals such as SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications and Journal of Global Optimization. Gu's contact information is mgu@math.berkeley.edu, and his personal website is https://math.berkeley.edu/people/faculty/ming-gu.
