James Tsatsaronis

James Tsatsaronis is a Dr at The University of Sydney, affiliated with the BIO department. His research interests include Higher education, Educational technology and computing, Education assessment and evaluation, and Curriculum and pedagogy. He is passionate about breaking down barriers between educators and students and using innovative approaches in teaching. James completed his undergraduate and PhD studies at the University of Wollongong, with his PhD research focusing on the pathogenesis of Streptococcus pyogenes. He joined the University of Sydney in 2025 as a Sydney Horizon Educator.

James Anthony Tsatsaronis is a researcher at the University of Sydney with expertise in Biochemistry education, Technology Enhanced Learning, and Microbiology. His work explores microbial communication through extracellular vesicle RNA, focusing on group A Streptococcus and its interactions with host immune responses. He investigates mechanisms such as two-component regulatory systems influencing membrane-derived vesicle production and the role of virulence factors like Streptococcal collagen-like protein A. His research also addresses host inflammation modulation and neutrophil responses. In education, he develops innovative teaching methods, including problem-based learning and online interactive modules, to enhance biochemistry education through blended learning approaches.
