Dr Farhad Masoomi-Aladizgeh is a Plant Biologist at The University of Sydney, Department of BIO. His research focuses on the impacts of environmental stresses on crops, particularly the response of male reproductive tissues to heat and drought. He aims to identify molecular mechanisms underlying germ cell susceptibility to these stresses to develop climate-resilient crops. Farhad holds a BSc in Agronomy and Plant Breeding (2011) and MSc in Agricultural Biotechnology (2013) from Iran, followed by a PhD in Plant Biology from Macquarie University (2022). Prior to his PhD, he worked in industry for four years in crop genetics and sequencing technologies. He also has experience in teaching Plant Biology and Biotechnology to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
