Brandon Velie

Dr Brandon D Velie is a senior lecturer in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences at The University of Sydney. His research focuses on understanding the genetic basis of athletic performance, diseases, and behaviour in horses and other equids. His research areas include gene mapping, veterinary anatomy and physiology, genetics, genomics, veterinary immunology, veterinary sciences, gene expression, veterinary diagnosis and diagnostics, veterinary anaesthesiology and intensive care, and veterinary medicine. Dr Velie completed both a BSc in Animal Science and a MSc in Animal Breeding & Genetics at North Carolina State University (USA) and earned his PhD at the University of Sydney's Faculty of Veterinary Science. He previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala, Sweden.
