Balwant Singh

Dr Balwant Singh is a Professor in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science, at The University of Sydney. He joined the university in 1998 from the University of Reading, where he was a lecturer in soil mineralogy. His teaching and research interests include environmental soil chemistry, land capability, soil productivity, soil chemistry, soil carbon sequestration, pollution and contamination, pedology, pedometrics, groundwater quality processes, contaminated land assessment, surface water quality processes, contaminated sediment assessment, environmental biogeochemistry, soil biology, and soil sciences. He completed his PhD from the University of Western Australia and MSc (Soils) and BSc Agr (Hons) from Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, India. He is a co-author of a highly popular classic textbook - Environmental Soil Chemistry.
