Alistair Senior

Alistair Senior is an Associate Professor in the BIO department at The University of Sydney. His research interests include nutrition and dietetics, behavioural ecology, ecology, nutrigenomics and personalised nutrition, public health nutrition, nutritional science, terrestrial ecology, clinical nutrition, and ecological physiology. Senior completed his undergraduate and master's degrees in Biological sciences and evolutionary biology in the UK. He earned his PhD in Zoology from the University of Otago in New Zealand in 2013 under the supervision of Shinichi Nakagawa. Since 2014, he has been based at The University of Sydney, where he has undertaken post-doctoral research in nutritional ecology under Prof. Stephen Simpson. He has held several fellowships, including a Coffey Fellowship in Complex Systems Modelling, an ARC DECRA, a Horizon Fellowship, and an ARC Future Fellowship.

Alistair M Senior is an Associate Professor and ARC Future Fellow at The University of Sydney, specializing in Nutritional Ecology, Life-History, and Biostatistics. Senior's work includes systematic reviews and meta-analyses on topics such as gestational diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and the impact of dietary macronutrients on health outcomes. He also develops statistical tools for ecological and evolutionary research, such as the orchaRd package for visualizing meta-analyses. His studies often integrate microbiome dynamics and host physiology to uncover the mechanisms underlying nutritional impacts on health and behavior.
