Arndt, Edith

Dr Edith Arndt is a Senior Research Fellow at The University of Melbourne, affiliated with the School of BioSciences. Her work focuses on biosecurity risk analysis, with specific interests in marine biofouling, monitoring and evaluation, alpine soil nitrogen, fire ecology, and the science-policy interface. Dr Arndt's research also involves stable nitrogen isotopes, root nitrogen uptake, and fire severity mapping. Edith Arndt is a researcher with a focus on alpine ecology, biosecurity, soil nitrogen, fire ecology, and remote sensing. Her work explores the dynamics of soil–plant nitrogen interactions in alpine–nival ecotones and the impact of wildfires on nitrogen isotope ratios in sub-alpine ecosystems. She has also contributed to understanding the factors influencing vessel biofouling and developing frameworks for assessing biosecurity system resilience. Her research includes evaluating the health of Australia’s biosecurity system and improving community engagement in surveillance. Arndt’s studies integrate ecological and socio-economic perspectives to enhance biosecurity policy and practice.
