Regular biography
Mathias Legrand is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University. His research areas include Vibrations, Acoustics, and Fluid-Structure Interaction. His current research focuses on nonsmooth vibrations of flexible structures, reduced-order models for nonlinear dynamics, and stability analysis of non-smooth systems. He is also involved in the study of unilateral contact and friction in aircraft and helicopter engines, as well as linear and nonlinear rotordynamics. Legrand's work emphasizes the development of theoretical knowledge and new tools to address practical industrial challenges. He leads the Structural Dynamics and Vibration Laboratory at McGill University.
