Regular biography
Sanha Kim is a Faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering department at KAIST. Their research focuses on Mechanical Engineering, with an emphasis on understanding the mechanics of solid-solid contact and engineering surface phenomena such as adhesion, friction, wear, material transfer, and deformation. The AMSE Lab at KAIST, led by Professor Kim, explores advanced manufacturing technologies, novel materials, and processing methods to design multi-functional engineered surfaces for applications in robotics, energy storage, biosensors, and environmental systems. The lab also integrates artificial intelligence and machine vision to achieve autonomous and customized manufacturing. Professor Kim's work includes developing friction prediction algorithms for automotive bolt joining processes and advancing chemical mechanical polishing, wafer cleaning, and hybrid bonding technologies.
