Vincenzo Savona is a Full Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the Department of Physics (PHY). His research focuses on quantum optics, theory and modeling of open quantum systems, and design and modeling of photonic devices. He studied physics at the Scuola Normale Superiore and the University of Pisa before completing his PhD at EPFL's Institute of Theoretical Physics. He conducted post-doctoral work at EPFL and the Humboldt University of Berlin. In 2002, he returned to EPFL as a "professeur boursier" fellow and was appointed tenure-track assistant professor in 2006. He currently directs the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics of Nanosystems.
