Philippe Spaetig is an Adjunct Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the School of Basic Sciences and the Laboratory of Reactor Physics and Systems Behaviours. His research focuses on the integrity assessment of nuclear reactor internals and components of the primary coolant system, as well as the embrittlement of pressure vessel steels. He develops small specimen test techniques, non-destructive methods, and analytical and numerical analysis to determine materials properties evolution in harsh environments. Spaetig teaches in the Master in Nuclear Engineering program and educates young scientists in nuclear materials and fuel. He obtained his diploma of Engineer Physicist at EPFL in 1991 and his PhD in Physical Metallurgy at EPFL in 1995.
