Nicolas Grandjean is the Associate Vice President for Education at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the Department of PHY. His research interests focus on the physics and technology of III-V nitride wide-bandgap semiconductor quantum photonics. He has authored over 600 publications in peer-reviewed journals and delivered plenary talks at major international conferences. Grandjean received a PhD in physics from the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis in 1994 and joined the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) as a staff member. In 2004, he was appointed tenure-track assistant professor at EPFL, where he created the Laboratory for Advanced Semiconductors for Photonics and Electronics. He was promoted to full professor in 2009 and has held various leadership roles at EPFL, including head of the School of Physics from 2018 to 2022.
