Stefano Spaccapietra is a Professor Emeritus at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the Computer Science department. His research interests include database modeling, geographical information systems, data integration, ontologies, semantic web, and data semantics. He has supervised numerous PhD theses at EPFL, including those of Yann Dupont, Massimo Gentile, Jun Lou, Yanling Li, Mohamed Meharga, Christelle Vangenot, Pier Donini, Philippe Rochat, Anastasiya Sotnykova, Maria Luisa Damiani, Shijun Yu, Hassina Bounif, and Oleksandr Drutskyy.
