Regular biography
Sean Hill is an Adjunct Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the BIO department. He is co-Director of the Blue Brain Project, where he leads the Neuroinformatics division based at the Campus Biotech in Geneva, Switzerland. Dr. Hill also directs the Laboratory for the Neural Basis of Brain States at EPFL. He has served as Executive Director (2011-2013) and Scientific Director (2014-2016) of the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF) at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. His research focuses on large-scale simulation, neuroinformatics, microcircuitry, and brain connectivity. Dr. Hill has extensive experience in building and simulating brain circuitry models and has supervised research on neocortical and thalamocortical microcircuitry. He currently holds management and advisory roles in global clinical informatics initiatives.
