Regular biography
Peter Martin Beard is a Professor Emeritus at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the BIO department. He studied mathematics, physics, and chemistry at the University of Glasgow, later obtaining his PhD in biochemistry from the Imperial Cancer Research Fund in London. His career included work with L.V. Crawford, P. Berg, and B. Hirt, focusing on the relationship between viral infections and cancer. He was appointed as EPFL Adjunct Professor in 2008 and became Professor Emeritus in 2011. Currently, he collaborates with the undergraduate Teaching Section of Life Sciences and Technology on coordinating the Master's program in Molecular Medicine.
