Joachim Lingner is a Full Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the BIO department. His research focuses on telomeres, telomerases, and non-coding RNA. Lingner obtained his PhD from the University of Basel in 1992 and conducted postdoctoral work at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Since 1997, he has led a group at ISREC, investigating telomere maintenance and its role in cellular lifespan. His lab has elucidated telomerase regulation and the function of telomeric noncoding RNA, TERRA. Lingner has received several awards, including a START-fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Friedrich Miescher prize.
