Regular biography
Gerardo Turcatti is an Adjunct Professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the BIO department. He directs the Biomolecular Screening Facility (BSF) at EPFL, which he established in 2006. Turcatti is also involved in the NCCR-Chemical Biology program as project leader of the ACCESS initiative. He previously co-founded and served as CTO of Manteia S.A., a company that developed high-throughput DNA sequencing technologies now owned by Illumina. His career includes extensive R&D experience in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, with expertise in chemical biology, drug screening, and bio-analytical chemistry. Turcatti holds a Master in Chemical Engineering from the University of Geneva and a PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry from EPFL, where he was awarded the best doctoral thesis of the year.
