Freddy Radtke

Freddy Radtke is a Full Professor at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the BIO department. His research focuses on molecular biology, with a particular emphasis on cancer and stem cell biology. Radtke obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Zürich in 1994 and conducted postdoctoral research at Genentech and the Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research (ISREC). He has held various leadership roles, including group leader and senior scientist, and has contributed to educational initiatives at EPFL, teaching courses on biology, stem cells, and translational oncology.

Freddy Radtke's research focuses on the role of Notch signaling in cellular differentiation, immune system development, and tumorigenesis. His work explores how Notch pathway components, such as Notch1 and Delta-like ligands, regulate cell fate decisions in tissues like the intestine and thymus. Radtke's studies also investigate the interplay between Notch signaling and other pathways, including VEGF and STING, in processes such as apoptosis and immune response. His research highlights the dual role of Notch as both an oncogene and tumor suppressor, contributing to understanding cancer biology and immune system function.
